Getting to Nusa Lembongan by Fast Boat
Nusa Lembongan is a beautiful island off the coast of Bali, and getting there is straightforward by fast boat ferry. The main departure point in Bali is Sanur Harbour, approximately 45 minutes from the airport.
On arrival at the harbour, you’ll find the offices of most boat companies, usually in the car park area. Here, you check in and register your luggage. Staff will then guide you either across to the ferry terminal or transfer you by golf buggy. Your checked luggage will be taken care of.
The area has several cafes, convenience stores, and a market selling clothes and souvenirs. Our favourite spot for coffee and a snack is Asia Pantry Sanur.
Once inside the ferry terminal, show your ticket and head upstairs. Wait for the announcement from port staff, then walk down the pier to board your boat. The crossing typically takes around 30 minutes.
Which Boat Company to Book With
Several companies operate fast boats from Sanur to Nusa Lembongan. We recommend the following:
Arrival Differences:
- D’Stars and Setia: Arrive at the main harbour, stepping into shallow water onto the sand—scenic and convenient.
- Rocky: Arrives at a floating pier at the back of the island, which can be easier for those with mobility concerns or travelling with young children.
Travel time from the ports to most villas is about 10–15 minutes.
For smaller private groups, a private boat service is also available:
Tip: Book your transfers with check-in and check-out times in mind. We will let your villa manager know your arrival time so they can meet you at the boat and assist with transport to your Villa. Some villas include a jeep transfer from the port; for others, this can be arranged at an additional charge. Our concierge team will guide you through the reservation process.
Transport on Nusa Lembongan

With very few cars on the island, common transport options include taxi jeeps, scooters, boats, and self-drive buggies. Walking is also great, especially around Tamarind Beach to Jungut Batu.
Jeep Transport
This is generally the sort of vehicle you will travel from the boat to your Villa in. Jeep or local taxi rides usually have a fixed rate and seat 6–8 passengers. Your villa manager or local restaurants can arrange rides for you. The going rate for most destinations is $15.
Scooter Hire
Scooters, with or without surfboard racks, can be rented for $10–$20/day. Safety first: always wear a helmet and ensure your travel insurance covers scooter use. Roads can be narrow, hilly, and uneven.
Self-Drive Buggies
Self-drive golf carts are growing in popularity. They seat 6–8 passengers and can be electric or gasoline. Prices range from $100–$180/day, depending on size. Hiring a buggy with a driver for a half-day tour is a great way to explore the island.
Walking
The deck or boardwalk that connects the main port town of Jungut Batu to Coconuts beach is a must-do Lembongan stroll! It is a beautiful view and home to several fantastic restaurants bars as well as Spring Spa. The main town and beach area is also walkable. For those staying in one of our Villas at Tamarind Bay there is a sweet cliffside walking track that connects Tamarind with Coconuts beach which is home to Lago Beach Café. From here you meet the deck walkway which leads into town.
