Waterfall Visit

Tegenungan Waterfall, about 20 minutes southeast of Ubud, offers a fun jungle hike and a refreshing swim in its lagoon-like pool. Kids and families can enjoy the adventure, or bathe in the nearby holy spring water. The earlier you get there, the more secluded the falls and of course be careful after heavy rains.

Cultural Performance

The Ubud Royal Palace, located on Jalan Raya Ubud, is a cultural highlight offering nightly Balinese music and dance performances. Kids enjoy the fire dances and colorful masks, making it a memorable experience for all ages. Tickets are around $10 and easy to arrange  The dances are held everynight at 7:30pm and to secure a seat you might like to get there earlier.

Cooking Tours

Ubud offers fantastic family-friendly cooking classes in traditional Balinese settings, often including a market visit for local ingredients. Popular options include Casa Luna, Ketut Bali Cooking Class, and Tresna, where kids and adults alike can learn to make Balinese dishes and enjoy hands-on culinary fun.

For a calm Ubud stop with kids, visit Pondok Pekak Library & Learning Centre. Enjoy children’s books in English and Bahasa Indonesia, and participate in classes like Balinese dance, music, carving, and painting. Parents can join or drop off older kids. Open daily, Jalan Monkey Forest.

Souvenirs & Swings at Tegalalang Rice Fields

Tegalalang, about 10 km north of Ubud, is famous for its stunning terraced rice fields and scenic rural views. Families can enjoy photo opportunities on swings, explore small handicraft shops, and soak in the changing beauty of the lush green valleys — a memorable outing! The rice fields go through changes with the harvest so it may not always look as green as on Instagram but it is a nice rural journey all the same.
