Sanur is the more sleepy side of south Bali, where the beach is great for swimming and the pace is nice and slow. The shopping and eating is a lot more ‘old school’, so you won’t get caught up in the consumer holiday mode so much! The beach has an excellent walking path running parallel to it, shaded by huge trees.

Here you can stroll without cars, motorbikes, and potholes, which is rare in Bali, and stop for juices or cocktails along the way. Colorful wooden fishing boats give a quaint feeling to the shoreline and there are some great no-frills seafood restaurants on the beach.

Nothing like sinking into the sand barefoot on your plastic chair and enjoying a cold Bintang beer and some Nasi Goreng that won’t break the budget!
